You may need an environmental permit for treating, reusing or recovering waste, and for disposal activities.

In some cases, lower risk, small scale and less polluting activities will not need a permit. These activities are known as exemptions. You must still comply with the conditions of an exemption to make sure your activities do not pollute the environment or harm human health.
